EFC Working Party 7: Corrosion Education and Computer Applications

Databases

Few databases exclusively for corrosion literature are available at present, but several databases in the sciences and engineering cover corrosion, wholly or in part, within their main subject areas. The annual increase in corrosion items in the four major data bases that cover corrosion in general varies from about 6000 (CA, METADEX) to 2000 (PASCAL). Corrosion references are between 1-10% of the total data.

A great number of specialised databases outside those listed here also contain corrosion information. Some computer search systems have on-line guidance facilities for selecting potentially useful databases for a specific inquiry. Consulting information specialists in an information centre or a library is advisable when undertaking a major search.
(For data collections on diskettes for personal computers see the Note in Visual aids)
A = corrosion in general covered
N = numeric database ('data bank'), as distinguished from bibiographic or reference database
