Journals

Some 3000-4000 papers on corrosion are published in journals each year. The 'core corrosion journals', i.e. the group of 25-30 journals that are devoted exclusively to corrosion, account for roughly one third or fewer of this number. The remainder is spread fairly evenly between some hundred journals with a number of corrosion papers each year, and a much larger group with only an occasional contribution.
The periodicals below have been classified into those dealing with corrosion and those with a significant number of papers on corrosion and related phenomena.
For a fuller coverage of journals and other periodicals, particularly in the second group, the source lists of abstracts journals should be consulted, e.g. in the Corrosion Abstracts, or Materials Information's Source Journals in Metals and Materials (5th edition 1990).
The category of reader to whom the publication is primarily addressed has also been indicated. For explanation of categories, see Classification of personnel combation corrosion. However, most of the journals will contain some items of interest to readers from the other groups.
